Usain Bolt was celebrating his victory in the 200 meters at the Track and Field World Championships in Beijing when he was taken down by a cameraman riding a Segway.
The Jamaican sprinter won the gold medal with a time of 19.55 seconds. As he took his victory lap, a cameraman was following close behind on a Segway. The Segway bumped into a railing, causing the cameraman to lose his balance and accidentally step on the accelerator. As luck would have it, the Segway ran straight into the back of Bolt, taking his legs out from underneath him and sending him, and the cameraman, tumbling backwards onto the ground.
Bolt did limp a little as he got up, but other than a small cut on his leg, he was OK as he shook it off and continued his victory lap. It's OK to laugh now, but Bolt is very lucky that he didn't suffer a very serious injury. Can you imagine? It would seem that banning Segways from being on the track at future events would be a reasonable rule to put in place.
H/T FTW.
