Brett Gardner received an unexpected blow to the head from behind by a home run ball thrown back onto the field by a clueless New York Yankees fan during the fourth inning of Saturday's game against Toronto.
Blue Jays batter Jose Bautista hit a solo shot to left, where a kid came up with the ball and apparently decided he didn't want to keep it. Gardner became a victim of that unwise decision.
Fortunately, Gardner was OK and able to stay in the game. Let this be a valuable lesson for the kids at home: Baseballs are dangerous.
