Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus pulled off a rare feat on the major league level with a straight steal of home during the seventh inning of Tuesday night's game in San Diego.
Andrus took advantage of a leisurely pitch delivery by Padres reliever Kevin Quackenbush. Quackenbush is a right hander who faces third base as he delivers his pitches, but he put his head down and didn't see Andrus break for home. Eventually Quackenbush snapped out of it and rushed a throw home, but it was wide to the left side of the plate, allowing Andrus to slide in safely.
The Rangers beat the Padres 8-6.
