Houston Astros designated hitter Evan Gattis displayed some impressive strength by hitting a two-run homer with a one-handed swing during the eighth inning of Wednesday night's game against Texas.
Gattis, a right-handed batter, lost the grip of his bat with his left hand while following through on the swing with his right hand, yet was still able to connect with the first pitch of his at-bat and hit it over the fence. The estimated distance of the home run was 367 feet.
Needless to say, Gattis had a good night, finishing 3-for-4. However, the Astros lost to the Rangers 14-3 to fall 1 1/2 games back in the American League West. The Astros are still in position for the wild card, but have been struggling lately, having now lost 10 of their last 14 games.
