Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer shouted down manager Matt Williams during a visit to the mound in the seventh inning of Friday night's game against Miami.
With the score tied at 2, Scherzer had two outs and a man on second when Williams came out to the mound to check on him. Scherzer made it clear that there was no way he was coming out of the game, and he was very emphatic about it:
Williams headed back to the dugout and put his trust in the superstar pitcher, which was the right call to make. Scherzer got Marlins batter Dee Gordon to ground out to end the inning and finish his night on a positive note.
The Nationals won the game 5-4 in 10 innings.
