Vancouver Canucks veteran defenseman Dan Hamhuis was knocked out of Wednesday night's game against the New York Rangers after taking a slap shot to the face in the third period.
Hamhuis had just given up the puck on the defensive end when he was hit by a slap shot from Dan Boyle at close range. Hamhuis was bleeding profusely and was immediately helped off the ice and straight into the locker room.

"He took the shot in the mouth, just on the upper part of his mouth and lost some teeth," Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins said. "I would assume it probably broke his jaw."The Canucks won the game 2-1, but it's safe to say Hamhuis will miss some time.
