The Tampa Bay Lightning used some creativity to arrange a surprise military family reunion by hiding the father in goal during an intermission in Saturday night's game against Columbus.
Paul Fahrenbach of the United States Navy had just returned from a long deployment in the Middle East. The Lightning invited Fahrenbach's three daughters onto the ice at intermission to take shots at three slots in a cardboard wall in front of the goal. Although they all took their best shots and missed, none of that mattered when the dropped to reveal Fahrenbach in his military uniform.
Fahrenbach happens to be very good friends with Tyler Johnson. They became friends while Johnson was playing for the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL and Fahrenbach was stationed at the Naval Station in Norfolk.
