Junior hockey referee takes beer can to groin, player's brother arrested (Video)

Referee takes beer can to groin

A junior hockey referee in Canada took a "nearly full" can of beer to his groin during a game last week, leading to the arrest of the brother of one of the players on the ice.

It happened on February 11th in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in a game between the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Referee Dominic Bedard handed out a roughing penalty to Rouyn-Noranda's Francis Perron. Francis' brother, 29-year-old Alexandre Perron, was in the sixth row in the stands and did not like the call. However, the method he used to express his disagreement was beyond inappropriate, as he threw his can of beer at Bedard, nailing him in the privates.

Needless to say, Alexandre Perron was ejected from the arena and arrested. For the time being, he has been released, but he faces possible assault charges at his scheduled appearance before a judge on May 10.

As for Bedard, he was able to recover and return to the game.
