St. Louis Blues right winger Ryan Reaves was ejected from Monday night's game against San Jose for boarding Sharks defenseman Matt Tennyson with a crushing hit.
It happened less than nine minutes into the first period as Tennyson chased the puck behind the Sharks net. As Tennyson passed the puck to a teammate along the boards, Reaves came in high and slammed Tennyson's head into the glass, knocking him out cold.
Tennyson was helped to the Sharks bench and appeared to have a cut over his left eye. He did not return to the game.
Reaves earned a five minute major for boarding and a game misconduct. The Sharks used the power play to get their revenge with two power play goals, leading the way to a 6-3 victory.
