Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith was ejected from Tuesday night's game against Minnesota for hitting Wild center Charlie Coyle in the face with his stick.
It happened at the 9:27 mark of the first period after Coyle knocked Keith to the ice with a legal check. While laying down on the ice as Coyle stopped and stood above him, Keith wound up with his stick and swung at Coyle, hitting him right in the face and opening up a huge cut on his nose.
The referees wasted no time giving Keith a 10 minute match penalty for deliberate injury. Something tells us Keith could receive additional discipline from the league once they have a look at the video of this very ugly incident.
The Wild beat the Blackhawks 4-1.
