Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin earned an embellishment penalty for a flagrant dive during the second period of Thursday night's game against Pittsburgh.
Ovechkin was jockeying for position near the Penguins net when he was hit in the side by a cross-check from Penguins defenseman Kris Letang. As the video shows, Ovechkin was over the top with his acting as he tried to sell the call.

The referees did assess Letang with a minor penalty for cross-checking, but most likely because they watched it happen and not because of Ovechkin's shameless flop.
Ovechkin has been known to take a dive from time to time, and has been successful in drawing penalty calls. Based on this incident, it would seem that the referees are on to him, so Ovechkin needs to stay more focused on scoring goals and less focused on cheating.
