Kansas City Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez found himself wearing the wrong team cap when he started the team's Opening Day game against the N.Y. Mets on Sunday night.
Volquez came out to the mound in the first inning wearing the spring training edition of the Royals cap, which features the white K.C. letters with a gold crown above them. However, the rest of the team were wearing the championship edition of the Royals cap, featuring gold letters with white trim and the World Series Champions logo on the side.
It's a bit surprising how this would happen in the major leagues, considering there are equipment managers that are supposed to be responsible for making sure the team wears the correct uniforms. Fortunately, things were worked out and Volquez was given the correct cap to wear for the second inning.
Volquez pitched six shutout innings and earn the win as the Royals beat the Mets 4-3.
