Cleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor ducked for his life as he lost sight of a foul popup that got stuck in a catwalk at Tropicana Field during Wednesday night's game against Tampa.
It happened in the bottom of the ninth as Rays batter Desmond Jennings hit a toweing foul ball on the third base side. Indians third baseman Juan Uribe deferred to Lindor, who lost sight of the ball and covered up to protect himself, but wound up looking pretty silly when the ball never came down.
Once it was settled that the ball was out of play, Lindor jokingly made a diving leap on the ground as if to pretend to make a spectacular catch before returning to the infield. All in all, a pretty unusual and funny scene.
Jennings ended up striking out to end the game, as the Indians beat the Rays 4-1.
