A soccer goalkeeper in Tahiti has scored what we would call the most baffling own goal in history.
AS Tefana goalkeeper Mikael Roche left the net open and approached the ball near the goal line as it was thrown in by an opposing player from Nadi (Fiji). Roche had no players challenging him when he inexplicably turned and kicked the ball towards his own net, then acted surprised when it actually rolled in.

We are trying very hard to understand what may have been going through Roche's head, but we have no idea what he was trying to do here. We would imagine Roche had some trouble explaining this himself, as it really makes no sense no matter how you look at it. Hopefully Roche can put this behind him.
