Portland Timbers forward Lucas Melano may have executed the most shameless dive in the history of MLS during Saturday night's matchup against Real Salt Lake.
Melano took a mild shove in the back during a stoppage of play from Real's Chris Wingert. After he saw the referee nearby, Melano threw himself into a forward roll, then got up to see if the referee would make a call.
Fortunately, justice prevailed as no call was made on Melano's blatant attempt at cheating, although he probably deserved a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct. Granted that the refs also missed Melano getting pushed in the back. However, two wrongs don't make a right, and the second guy is more likely to get caught in these types of situations.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
