A New York Mets fan lost his beer as it was destroyed by a foul ball from Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera during Saturday's game at Citizens Bank Park.
It happened in the bottom of the fifth as Herrera lined a 1-1 pitch foul into the front row of the stands near third base. The unsuspecting Mets fan held the beer on the railing in front of him while everyone around him was trying to avoid being hit by the line drive. The beer bottle remained intact upon impact, but he lost a good amount of its contents as the beer splashed all over him and the fan next to him.
Fortunately, both fans were OK. It would seem that the Mets fan's beer saved the fan next to him from being drilled in the chest. It's a shame he lost some of his beer, but if you think about what could have happened, this is the best possible outcome.
