The San Diego Padres earned a walk-off extra-inning victory over San Francisco in unusual fashion Saturday night as the winning run came home on a balk.
With the score tied 6-6 and the Padres up with no outs and runners at first and third in the bottom of the 10th, Giants reliever Santiago Castilla stumbled off the mound while delivering his first pitch to batter Alexei Ramirez. The umpire immediately called a balk, allowing the winning run to score from third and giving the Padres the "balk-off" win.
You don't see this happen too often. The ending was a bit anticlimactic, but the Padres will take the victory.
