U.S. Women's National Team goalkeeper Hope Solo was taunted with a "Zika" chant during the team's debut at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
Solo's recent tweets joking about the extra protection she would bring to Brazil to protect herself from the Zika virus likely brought on the wrath of the Brazilian fans. Solo was booed by the fans when she picked up the ball and heard the "Zika" chant whenever she cleared the ball from her zone.
Solo didn't seem bothered by the negative reaction, as she stopped all four shots she faced to help the U.S. beat New Zealand 2-0 in their first game in Group G.
H/T LBS.
