Florida State Seminole mascots Chief Osceola and his horse Renegade fell to the ground during the traditional pregame ritual prior to Friday night's Orange Bowl matchup against Michigan.
Chief Osceola rode Renegade to the middle of the field, but before he could throw down his burning spear, something seemed to spook Renegade. The horse took a few steps backward and changed direction, apparently trying to get away from something, when he lost his footing and fell to the ground along with the Chief.
Never seen this happen before…Let's hope the offense executes better pic.twitter.com/1JQTP8MFMt— Danny Kanell (@dannykanell) December 31, 2016
It's unlikely this has ever happened, but Osceola handled it like a true pro. The FSU players picked up the slack for their mascots, as the Seminoles took a 20-6 lead over Michigan into halftime.
