Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid scored a goal with a new stick just seconds after breaking his old one during the second period of Friday night's NHL game at Carolina.
McDavid snapped his stick and went to the bench to get a replacement while the Hurricanes dumped the puck into the Oilers defensive zone. The Hurricanes used the opportunity to make a line change, which gave McDavid the chance to position himself for a perfect pass behind the defense and a breakaway score.
In hindsight, the Hurricanes could have timed that line change a little better. Nice work by McDavid to take advantage of the situation.
