Rock and roll legend Billy Joel will hold a concert at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia this summer. It will be the fifth consecutive year that he will play at the home stadium of the Phillies, and his concerts have been sold out the past four years.
To honor the occasion, the Phillies have signed Billy Joel to an honorary 1-year contract. The contract becomes effective on July 27, 2018, the date of Joel's next concert at the stadium.
Phillies GM and Vice President Matt Klentak made the announcement this past Thursday and signed the contract on Billy Joel's behalf. Klentak also displayed an honorary Phillies jersey with Joel's name and the number 5 on the back.
