One of my all-time favorite Saturday Night Live sports-themed sketches was Jason Priestley's figure skating routine in an opening sketch parody of the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France. I have been searching the Internet for years to find this sketch with no luck, probably because NBC has had it locked down tight.
However, with the 2018 Winter Olympics coming to a close, NBC and SNL have extended an incredible gesture of goodwill and released this sketch from the vault, allowing fans to enjoy it again in all its glory.
For those who have never seen it, Priestley plays American skater Brian Demming and performs a skating routine that is so bad it is just hilarious. Although he looks good at the start of it, Priestley goes down hard after his first triple axel attempt, and things continue downhill from there. Verne Lundquist (played by the late Phil Hartman) and Scott Hamilton (played by Dana Carvey) deliver the commentary of Priestley's painful performance.
