Minnesota Golden Gophers redshirt sophomore defensive back Antoine Winfield Jr. scored a touchdown by returning a punt 76 yards during the second quarter of Thursday night's season opener against New Mexico State.
It happened with about three minutes left in the second quarter as Minnesota held a 21-10 lead. Winfield should have been tackled on his own 32-yard line, but he was able to spin away from a New Mexico State tackler who didn't wrap up. Winfield then somehow squeezed in between three more defenders on the 43-yard line, then ran down the sideline. After heading back towards the middle of the field, Winfield was able to stiff-arm another defender who tried to catch him from behind on the 20-yard line before making his way into the end zone.

Now that was a heck of a play by Winfield, but the New Mexico State punt team really needs to work on their tackling.
As of this writing, they lead 38-10 with just over five minutes left in the third quarter.
