Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig spiked his glove on the ground in frustration after failing to catch a foul popup during Saturday night's game in Seattle.
It happened in the bottom of the fifth as Mariners batter Mitch Haniger hit a 3-1 pitch that curved towards the edge of the third base stands. Puig sprinted towards the stands and appeared to get there in time to make a great catch, but the ball skipped out of the edge of his glove. Puig immediately turned and threw his glove down in the dirt.
You can't say that Puig isn't passionate about the game.
There was a Dodgers fan who was also reaching for the ball and made contact with Puig, but it appeared that Puig had dropped the ball before contact was made.
Haniger ended up walking, but did not score, so the play didn't cost the Dodgers. However, the Mariners were able to beat the Dodgers 5-4 in 10 innings.
