Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Collin Delia was accidentally taken out by teammate Alex DeBrincat during warm-ups prior to Friday night's game in Colorado.
Delia was skating near center ice with DeBrincat skating towards him. DeBrincat inexplicably fell to the ice on his side right in front of Delia, who had virtually no time to react. Delia instinctively made a last-minute attempt to leap over DeBrincat, but it was too late. Delia was knocked off balance and fell to the ice.
Fortunately, Delia able to brace his fall and was able to avoid serious injury. That would have been disastrous considering Delia was making his first NHL start.
In the end, things worked out pretty well for the Blackhawks. DeBrincat scored the opening goal of the game, and Delia made 35 saves to lead the Blackhawks to a 2-1 victory over the Avalanche.
