Los Angeles Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley knocked a tooth out of Dallas Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr's mouth during Sunday night's game at the American Airlines Center.
It happened in the third quarter with the Mavericks holding a 79-73 lead. Smith fell to the floor trying to hold onto possession of the ball. Beverley fell on top of him and his elbow knocked Smith in the mouth. At some point the whistle blew, giving Smith a chance to spit his tooth out before he swallowed it.
Beverley was not called for a foul on the play. Smith came out of the game and headed to the locker room, but returned to the game in the fourth quarter.
Hopefully the Mavericks can refer Smith to a good dentist to fix his tooth. We wouldn't want to see anything happen to that smile.
Beverley finished with 3 points off the bench in 17 minutes. Smith finished with 9 points in 32 minutes as a starter. The Mavericks beat the Clippers 114-110.
