Cincinnati Reds right fielder Yasiel Puig tossed his bat and helmet into the batter's box after being ejected from Tuesday night's game against the L.A. Angels for arguing balls and strikes.
It happened in the top of the sixth inning as home plate umpire Kerwin Danley called a third strike as Puig was caught looking. It apparently started with the first pitch of the at-bat, which was called a strike but Puig felt was a bit inside. After the strike three call, Puig started to argue, which led Danley to toss him. Puig had some choice words for Danley and pointed in his face a few times before Reds manager David Bell stepped in to separate them.
While Puig continued to plead his case with one of the other umpires, Bell began to get angry himself and apparently said something that Danley didn't like, so Danley tossed Bell. At that point, Puig dumped his bat at helmet at home plate and started to go after Danley again before being separated by Bell and another Reds coach.
Puig finished 0-for-3 as the Reds lost to the Angels 5-1.
