Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Max Muncy found himself ducking for cover as he lost a pop fly in the sun during Sunday's game against San Diego.
It happened in the top of the fifth with no outs and a Padres runner on first. Padres batter Austin Hedges popped up an 0-1 pitch towards the first base side of the infield. Muncy appeared to have a bead on it, but apparently couldn't find the ball, as the sunglasses Muncy was wearing didn't seem to be much help against the bright sun. The ball hit Muncy in the back of the head and deflected towards the stands.
The Padres ended up with runners on second and third. Hedges was given credit for a double, so Muncy did not get an error for his misplay. Both Padres runners eventually came around to score, and in the end, the Padres won the game 5-3.
Fortunately, Muncy was not hurt on the play.
