Joel Eriksson Ek blasted with three consecutive slap shots

Minnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek suffered a painful sequence during Thursday night's game against Montreal as he was pelted with three consecutive slap shots from Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber.

It happened during a Canadiens power play in the second period with Montreal holding a 3-0 lead. In a 30-second span, Weber's shots deflected off Eriksson Ek's legs, sending him to his knees, but he got back up each time.

More proof that hockey players are some of the toughest athletes in the world.

Eriksson Ek and the Wild were able to keep the Habs off the scoreboard in the second period, but they couldn't recover from the deficit as Montreal came away with a 4-0 victory.
