Carolina Hurricanes center Dougie Hamilton caught the Edmonton Oilers off guard when he scored a goal from center ice during Tuesday night's game at Rogers Place.
It happened with just under five minutes remaining in the third period as the Hurricanes held a 5-3 lead. The Hurricanes won a face off outside the Oilers blue line and the puck kicked out to Hamilton. Hamilton positioned himself as if he was going to dump the puck into the corner, then took a slapshot towards the Oilers goal. Goaltender Mikko Koskinen was clearly fooled as the puck ended up in the back of the net.
Hamilton had a huge smile on his face as he high-fived his teammates while disappointed Oilers fans began heading for the exits. The game was over right then and there.
Hamilton had an assist on an earlier goal, along with two hits and two blocks, as the Hurricanes beat the Oilers 6-3.
