Minnesota Wild center Eric Staal was forced to leave Tuesday night's game against Anaheim after suffering an injury in a collision with an NHL linesman.
It happened with about six minutes remaining in the first period with the Ducks holding a 2-0 lead. Staal and Ducks center Derek Grant were heading towards the Ducks blue line chasing down a puck near the boards. Linesman David Brisebois tried his best to get out of the way, but was unable to as Staal skated right into him with his left shoulder.
Staal was down on the ice for a few minutes as medical staffers tended to him. He seemed to have symptoms of a stinger and the trainers were checking out his neck, but no official word as to the specific injury.
The Wild rallied to tie the game in regulation, but the Ducks won the game 3-2 in a shootout.
