High school phenom LeBron James Jr. was hit by a piece of debris thrown by a fan in the stands during Sierra Canyon's basketball game Monday against Paul VI of Virginia as part of the Spalding Hoophall Classic at Springfield College in Massachusetts.
It happened in the third quarter with Bronny preparing to throw an inbounds pass from the sideline. Before the referee could hand Bronny the ball, he saw him get hit in the back by the unidentified object. The ref blew the whistle and summoned a cop to investigate. The game resumed a few seconds later.
According to ESPN, the fan who threw the debris could not be identified. There were no further incidents.
We were able to find some video footage of the incident from a couple of different angles. This video was taken from high in the stands shows the trash being thrown, although you cannot see the fan who threw it:
This video from the sideline shows Bronny clearly getting hit in the back by the debris, which appears to be a small yellow object:
Not cool. Not cool at all. Hopefully this footage can be used to track down the fan who did this so they will be punished accordingly. There's no place for this nonsense.
As for the game, Sierra Canyon lost to Paul VI 70-62.
