Houston Rockets point guard Austin Rivers found himself apologizing to superstar teammate James Harden for preventing him from earning a triple-double in Tuesday night's 125-110 win over Charlotte.
With under 30 seconds left in the game, Harden had 40 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds. With only one more rebound needed to complete the triple-double, he seemed to have the perfect opportunity as Hornets forward Miles Bridges shot a 3-pointer that bounced off the rim. However, Rivers didn't get the memo, as he instinctively grabbed the rebound before Harden could get to the ball.
Rivers realized his mistake a few seconds later and apologized to Harden from across the court. Unfortunately, with the final seconds winding down, there was going to be no way for Rivers to make it up to him.
Harden played it off like it was no big deal, but he didn't look happy.
