For those who want the chance to win more money quickly compared to other ways of betting, point spreads are the way to go. Once you grasp the basics of this system, it’s relatively easy to work with, and you can be quite successful at it.

The Basics of Point Spreads Betting
In NFL, there is a set number of points that the favored team is expected to win by. When you read those numbers, it’s called the handicap. Here, you have two routes to bet on.First, you can place a wager on the favored team to win. In order for you to win the bet, the favored team must beat the underdog team by more than the spread amount. Going this route is called covering the spread.
The other option is to place a wager on the underdog team (the one that isn’t favored to win). For this bet, the underdog has to either pull an upset by winning the game outright or lose by fewer points than the spread. If you take this bet, you are hoping that the underdog beats the spread.
Here’s a quick example to help further explain this. Say you have the New Orleans Saints favored to win against the Carolina Panthers by a spread of 10 points. If you were to place a wager on the Saints, the team must win by a score of 11 or more for you to win your wager.
Otherwise, you could put your wager on the Panthers. If they beat the Saints or lose to them by 9 points or less, you would win your wager.
Strategies to Consider
As with any style of betting, you want to have a strategy and consider different factors to increase your chance of winning.For sports, one of the first factors to look at is where the game is being played. There’s often the home-field advantage that gives the home team an edge over the visiting team. The crowd plays a huge role in encouraging and motivating their home team and distracting the away team.
Is the game a divisional matchup? Games against teams within the same division often becomes more competitive. Not only does this create a more exciting game, but it also usually has a closer score in the end.
Some other factors to look at include the previous week for each team. If one or both groups had to travel across the country for this week’s game, that means less rest time for the players. Pay attention to the injury report as certain players being out can have a detrimental effect on the team overall.
