Marcus Sorensen misses wide open net vs. Blues

San Jose Sharks left winger Marcus Sorensen missed a golden opportunity during Saturday night's game against St. Louis by whiffing on a shot in front of an open net.

It happened about two minutes into the third period with the game tied at 2-2. As the puck was dumped into the Blues end of the ice, goaltender Ville Husso came out of the net to play the puck off the boards. Husso misplayed the puck, which drifted in front of the empty net as Sorensen was skating towards the open goal. However, instead of shooting it in, Sorensen tried to poke-check the puck into the net and ended up missing the puck entirely.

As it turned out, this play would foreshadow how the rest of the game would go for the Sharks. The Blues scored three goals in the third period, while the Sharks were kept off the board for the rest of the game, giving the Blues a 5-2 victory.
