It happened in the first period as the Devils held a 1-0 lead. Boqvist was in the neutral zone receiving a pass from a teammate and never saw Schneider. It was a clean hit by Schneider, who absolutely destroyed Boqvist, knocking him on his back.
Devils big man Yegor Sharangovich, who scored the first goal of the game, immediately went after Schneider in defense of his teammate. However, not only did Schneider get the best of Sharangovich in the ensuing fight, but Sharangovich was penalized for fighting and instigating the fight.
Boqvist took some time on the bench to recover, returning to the game later on. However, Sharangovich headed to the locker room right after the fight and never returned. The Rangers made the most of the man advantage with two power play goals and the Devils never recovered. The Rangers came away with the 3-1 victory.
