Brayden Schenn smashes penalty box cam vs. Avalanche

Brayden Schenn smashes penalty box cam, Blues vs. Avalanche, 5/17/2022

St. Louis Blues center Brayden Schenn released some frustration by beating up a camera in the penalty box with his stick during Tuesday night's NHL Western Conference semifinal series opener against Colorado.

It happened with under two minutes remaining in the third period with the game tied at 2-2. Schenn was called for high sticking and sent to the penalty box, giving the Avalanche a power play opportunity to close out regulation. Although it appeared to be a good call by the officials, Schenn did not agree, and when he sat down in the box and saw a camera in his face, that apparently was the last straw.

Schenn began smashing the camera with his stick, which provided some entertaining television for TNT viewers at home, especially the view from the cam itself. The Blues were able to kill the resulting power play, taking Schenn off the hook. However, the Blues were unable to gather any momentum in overtime as the Avalanche won the game 3-2 to take a 1-0 series lead. [LBS]
