It happened in the first quarter as ETSU scored the first points of the game with a touchdown on their first offensive drive to give the Bucs a 6-0 lead. With ETSU being the home team, the ETSU Army ROTC cannon team has a small artillery cannon that they use to celebrate every touchdown, so the cannon fired away. However, given that this was the first touchdown of the season, the cannon team may have been a bit rusty, as they fired it during the extra point attempt just as Keltner was making his approach towards the ball. That seemingly caused Keltner to become confused, as he slowed down as he was about to kick the ball, which only went about 5 feet towards the line of scrimmage.
We can't blame Keltner for the miss, as he would never have expected to hear that during a kick attempt. We would guess that the cannon team was spoken to shortly after this happened, and they will take measures to ensure this never happens again.Oh, you made a mistake at work, eh?

Was it "firing a cannon too early, causing your team to miss an XP" bad? pic.twitter.com/M1BncTcsur
Fortunately, ETSU was able to take things in stride as the Bucs blew out Mars Hill 44-7. That means everyone can have a good laugh about it now. [The Big Lead]
