After striking out the first two Mariners batters to start the game, Bassitt walked the next two and hit another batter with a pitch before giving up a grand slam to Taylor Trammell to give the Mariners a 4-0 lead. Once Bassitt finally got the third out to end the inning, he sat down in the dugout and watched a video on a tablet. Apparently Bassitt did not like what he saw, because he slammed it on the dugout bench with two hands, then picked it up and threw it down again.
This reminded us of the temper tantrum thrown by Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey when he threw down on his desk everything he could get his hands on.Chris Bassitt is NOT happy pic.twitter.com/sblgfiCyo8

To Bassitt's credit, he regained his composure and stayed in the game for five innings, striking out seven batters in all without giving up another run. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays offense took Bassitt off the hook, scoring eight runs in the first three innings to give Toronto an 8-5 lead.
Unfortunately, the Blue Jays bullpen blew the lead in the ninth inning, and the Mariners won the game 10-8 in 10 innings. While it is encouraging that Bassitt was able to recover and pitch well after a rough start, he will need to work on his anger management. It is unclear whether the tablet he slammed suffered any damage, but if it did, Bassitt should take responsibility for it.
