A's fan rushes field, runs around bases before game (Video)

Athletics fan runs bases before game, 5/29/2023
An Oakland A's fan ran onto the field and took a reverse lap around the bases prior to Tuesday's game against Atlanta.

The fan came out from behind the bullpen on the third base side as the Oakland Coliseum grounds crew was working on the field. The fan ran straight across the field towards second, then jogged the bases backwards to home plate. He continued jogging towards third base, at which point one member of the grounds crew tried to take him down with a rake.

At that point, the fan jogged back to the third base bullpen and off the field. Usually the best part of watching a fan running onto the field is watching security chase after them and take them down. Not in this case, however, as there seemed to be no urgency on the part of security personnel to remove the fan from the stadium.

Sadly, the Oakland Athletics organization has become a joke, having only won 11 of their first 56 games this season. The stadium is falling apart, and the team has tentatively announced a move to Las Vegas, alienating their Oakland fans. It is a real shame to see this once proud organization fall apart before our eyes.
