It happened before the start of the seventh inning with the Rays holding a 2-0 lead. The grounds crew member was raking the infield when he took a break to put on a show with his dancing, even working in a little "Griddy" action.
The crowd seemed to love it. We hope that the grounds crew member got permission from his bosses for the dancing, however. After all, as a grounds crew member, his primary responsibilities should be related to taking care of the playing surface.
It should be noted that this is not the first dancing groundskeeper at an MLB game that we have seen. It is common for groundskeepers to look for ways to entertain themselves during a rain delay, but that would not be the case here as the Rays play in a dome.
On a side note, Rays blew the 2-0 lead in the eighth inning and lost to the Yankees 3-2, so the dancing did not exactly bring the Rays any "good luck".
