SKN midfielder Gerald Williams blocks shot with his groin vs. USMNT (Video)

Gerald Williams takes shot to the groin, St. Kitts and Nevis vs. USMNT, 6/28/2023
In CONCACAF Gold Cup Group A men's soccer action, St. Kitts and Nevis midfielder Gerald Williams took a shot to the groin from point blank range during the late moments of Wednesday's match against the United States.

It happened in the 86th minute as the USMNT had the game well in hand with a 6-0 lead and Williams made an unsuccessful tackle attempt to steal the ball. He left himself in a vulnerable position on the ground near the penalty mark in front of the St. Kitts and Nevis goal, and USMNT midfielder Cristian Roldan was just a few feet away attempting a shot on goal. Unfortunately for Williams, Roldan's shot never got off the ground, and Williams took it square in the nuts.

That play hurts just watching it. On the bright side, Williams gets credit for blocking the shot, which bounced straight up the air and was easily caught by the goaltender.

It was the second loss of the tournament for St. Kitts and Nevis, so they will not be advancing from the group stage. They will face Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday to close out their tournament run. Hopefully Williams will recover by then.
