Cincinnati Reds rookie shortstop phenom Elly De La Cruz stole second, third, and home on one trip around the bases during Saturday's game against Milwaukee.
It happened in the top of the seventh inning with two outs as De La Cruz hit a single to knock in a run and give the Reds a 6-5 lead. After stealing second, De La Cruz took off on a 1-2 pitch and stole third easily as the Brewers were not even covering the base. While the Brewers were getting lined up for the next pitch, De La Cruz saw an opportunity and headed for home. Brewers pitcher Elvis Peguero threw home, but the throw was behind catcher William Contreras, and De La Cruz scored on his third consecutive stolen base to give the Reds a 7-5 lead.
De La Cruz has been the spark behind the Reds resurgence. Since being called up, the Reds have risen to the top of the NL Central Division and have no sign of letting up. We will see over time if they can keep this momentum going.ELLY DE LA CRUZ CATCHES THE BREWERS SLEEPING AND STEALS HOME
