It happened in the bottom of the fifth inning as the umpire called time out with two outs and runners on first and second as the Mets held a 5-1 lead. ESPN cameras panned to a fan on the warning track covering his nose with a napkin. As security approached the fan, he put both hands up in order to indicate that he intended no harm to anyone. Multiple security guards escorted him to the bullpen in left field, where they opened the gates and walked off so the game could resume.
It would seem that the fan fell over the railing in front of the outfield stands, which is about 12 feet above the field. There seem to be no videos available of the fan falling onto the field, but there is this video taken from a nearby fan which captures the moments immediately after he fell:Strange scene at Citi Field.

Fortunately, the fan seemed to be OK. Security seemed to understand that unlike most incidents of fans running onto the field, this case was clearly an accident. With that in mind, they allowed him to return to his seat, so by the bottom of the sixth, he was explaining what happened to the other fans in his section.I’m sitting right next to him.
