It happened in the top of the seventh inning with one out and Padres runners on first and third with the Brewers leading 9-6. Machado came up as the tying run, but with the 2-2 pitch, he popped out to first base. Machado could not contain his frustration and took it out on the cooler.

Machado proceeded to throw his batting helmet into the corner of the dugout before sitting down and holding his head in his hands in disgust.
Machado is not the first MLB player to release their frustration on a cooler, and will probably not be the last. Fortunately, the coolers can take a beating and stay intact for future use.
Machado finished the game 1-for-5 with a double and no runs scored as the Padres lost the game 10-6. The Padres have now lost three straight and are 8 games out of Wild Card position in what has turned out to be an extremely disappointing season. No wonder Machado is so angry.
