Atlanta Falcons tight end MyCole Pruitt was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after delivering a headbutt to New Orleans Saints defensive end Carl Granderson during Sunday's NFL season finale at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.\
It happened in the first quarter as the Falcons offense had drove the ball to the Saints 9-yard line with the game still scoreless. While Robinson was taken down after a 2-yard run, there was a little extra pushing and shoving between Pruitt and Granderson. Pruitt got angry very quickly and gave Granderson the headbutt in full view of everyone, resulting in the 15-yard penalty.
— Stephen Douglas (@Stephen_Douglas) January 7, 2024No justification for Pruitt doing that, especially since trying to headbutt another player wearing a helmet is not going to hurt them. Pruitt needs to keep his head on that play.
The Falcons scored a touchdown two plays later on a Desmond Ridder touchdown pass to Jonnu Smith, so they were able to overcome the setback. However, as luck would have it, Pruitt had to leave the game in the third quarter with a calf injury. He finished the game with only one catch for 17 yards, and the Saints pulled away from the Falcons in the second half to come away with the 48-17 victory.
