Boston Bruins left winger Pat Maroon knocked Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren into the Bruins bench during Saturday's NHL Eastern Conference playoff game at the TD Garden.
It happened at about the 11:47 mark of the first period with the Bruins holding a 1-0 lead. Liljegren chased the puck towards the bench in front of the Bruins bench, with Maroon right behind him. As Liljegren knocked the puck into the Bruins zone, Maroon checked him sideways into the bench, knocking him headfirst and upside down over the boards.
Liljegren managed to recover relatively quickly to get himself back on the ice, but that was a bit embarrassing.
It was that kind of game for the Maple Leafs as the Bruins beat them 5-1 to take a 1-0 lead in their first round playoff series.
