Boston Bruins left winger Brad Marchand destroyed Florida Panthers left winger Matthew Tkachuk with a colossal hit during Wednesday night's Game 2 of their second round playoff series.
It happened about three and a half minutes into the first period with the game still scoreless. Tkachuk skated across the Bruins blue line with the puck with Marchand between him and the net. As Tkachuk tapped the puck behind the net, Marchand laid him out with a tremendous hit.
Marchand has been delivering big hits throughout his career, with some crossing the line. However, this was a good, clean hit. Marchand was credited with four hits in the first period, and he also had an assist on a Charlie Coyle goal as the Bruins led 1-0 at the end of the first.
As for Tkachuk, he has been on the receiving end of some painful hits, including a spear below the belt last year. He was not seriously hurt after this one as he stayed in the game.
