Jordan Spieth got a lucky bounce off a bad tee shot during Friday's second round of THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.
It happened on the 16th tee as Spieth hit a solid shot at 178 mph, but it sliced a bit to the right towards a small group of fans who were sitting in the grass on the side of the fairway. The ball hit a man in the elbow, but bounced back towards the fairway, leaving Spieth in a good position to take his next shot.
A bounce ... off an elbow into the fairway?! 😲@JordanSpieth gifted this fan a signed ball after the lucky kick. pic.twitter.com/zvCsUTzgWt

Fortunately the spectator was OK, although he had a nasty bruise on his elbow. Spieth made it up to the fan by giving him a signed golf ball.
You would think something like this would be pretty rare, but amazingly, this is not the first time that Spieth himself has been the beneficiary of a lucky bounce after hitting a spectator. At the 2016 Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, Spieth hit a drive that would have landed in the water had it not hit a spectator in the backside.
Despite the lucky bounce, Spieth ended up with a bogey on 16. He finished 1-under par for the round and 4-under after two rounds, but unfortunately Spieth will miss the cut, currently projected at 6-under. Hopefully Spieth won't chastise himself too much.
