Milwaukee Bucks point guard Patrick Beverley is taking some heat for throwing a basketball towards Indiana Pacers fans, hitting a woman in the head, during the final minutes of Thursday night's playoff loss that ended their season.
It happened during a timeout with 2:32 left in the fourth quarter as the Pacers held a 114-94 lead. The circumstances leading up to the indicent were unclear, but video shows Beverley holding a basketball and tossing a basketball into the second row behind the Bucks bench, hitting a woman in the head. Then, Beverley seemed to ask for the ball back, and when a male fan tossed the ball back to Beverley, he whipped it back towards him very hard. Fortunately, neither fan appeared to be hurt.
We would tend to agree with Barkley's assessment here. We can understand Beverley being angry, upset, and/or frustrated, but he cannot take it out on the fans. He is fortunate that he did not seriously hurt someone, and we would imagine that he will receive a suspension that will start at the beginning of next season.
As for the Bucks, their season is over as the Pacers won the game 120-98 to take the series 4-2. The Pacers will now face the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals. As for Beverley, he will have the entire offseason to contemplate
